PSHE & RSE

Little Marlow

Ensuring the pupils at our school have the tools to manoeuvre through life is an important cornerstone in our teaching at Little Marlow. We provide opportunities for the children to explore their own feelings to build understanding of themselves and others. We develop their growth mindset through discussion, collective worships and maintaining that mistakes are a valuable lesson to help us learn. Promoting their mental, moral and spiritual health through encouraging autonomy of self and link this with how we interact within a diverse society. Through community engagement and a school that we consider a family, we aim for our children to be prepared for any opportunities, responsibilities or experiences of later life.

Holy Trinity

PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health and Economic education. RSE stands for Relationship and Sex Education.

The DFE has highlighted the subject’s importance to children’s wellbeing and knock-on effects on academic achievement, stating that:

‘The evidence shows that personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education can improve the physical and psychosocial well-being of pupils. A virtuous cycle can be achieved, whereby pupils with better health and well-being can achieve better academically, which in turn leads to greater success’.

At Holy Trinity we are committed to ensuring that the emotional and social needs of all our children are met within our school environment, and we support the development of children’s health and wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence. Throughout PSHE lessons our children will cover topics based on Health and Wellbeing, Living in the Wider World and Relationships. Each academic year we also hold a whole school ‘First Aid’ week and a ‘Children’s Mental Health’ week.
