Music Curriculum Statement, Overview & Progression 2023 - 2024
Holy Trinity
Children at Holy Trinity develop the self-confidence, skills, knowledge, and understanding to kickstart a lifelong love of music, whilst being provided with a secure foundation that enables them to take music further should they wish to. They sing, perform, listen, appraise, and compose in a wide variety of styles, traditions and musical genres in weekly music lessons.
Outside of class lessons, children can learn an instrument and join an instrumental ensemble once confident. As well, all children are encouraged to join the lower or upper key stage choirs. These ensembles provide the children with a plethora of exciting and enriching opportunities, both in various school concerts around the year and in the wider community. Upcoming events include involvement in a mass music-making day called the ‘Big Noise’ with Chiltern Music Academy, and the ‘Echoes’ concert with the Buckinghamshire Music Trust taking place at the Royal Albert Hall.
Overall, the programme of music at Holy Trinity is centred around creating a well-rounded experience of music that is enjoyable for all, to have a positive lifelong impact.
