HISTORY
Little Marlow
Ensuring we ignite a curiosity and inquisitiveness about past British events as well as those in the wider world is imperative within our school. We ensure this by creating immersive experiences and lessons to fuel the pupils curiosity. Thus creating a learning environment where children ask questions – examine historical arguments and develop perspective and judgement. We intend to develop our pupils understanding of the complexity of history and how it has shaped the modern world. We want our children to love history and to remember their history lessons in our school, to cherish these memories and embrace the historical opportunities they are presented with.

Holy Trinity
At Holy Trinity, our History curriculum is based on a study and understanding of the history of Britain and the wider world. By studying history, pupils learn how to think critically, work with evidence and to thoroughly consider both sides of an issue before making a decision. Teaching history ensures our children learn to debate and consider information, allowing them to understand the complexities of people, societies and change, allowing them to comprehend their position within society.
Our curriculum covers a wide range of historical periods, focusing on key themes such as society, leaders and conflict. We teach topics that inspire their curiosity and provide them to opportunity to debate and discuss, as well as developing key skills including chronology work and evaluation of sources and artefacts. Children build on these skills year-by-year, as well as making links to different historical periods. Additionally, History is rooted across our curriculum, such as newspaper report based on Boudicca to artwork based on the blitz in World War II- allowing children's historical knowledge to demonstrated via different outputs. Children to take part in excursions and events linked to their studies, such as Celtic Harmony in Year 3 and the Imperial War Museum in Year 6, all of which contribute to a knowledge-rich and engaging subject.
